Healthy Communities

Overview

The Healthy Communities Initiative of Columbus Regional Health focuses on bringing community members together to address the major health needs of the community, with the aim of making our region a healthier and safer place to live.

We work together with healthcare, social service organizations, schools, businesses, local government, churches and others to work on projects to improve community health.

Improving Community Health

Every three years, we conduct a Community Health Needs Assessment – a community health status survey that helps us determine where to focus our efforts to improve community health.

We then work on the main priorities identified in this assessment in collaboration with and with support from the Healthy Communities Council and our Action Teams.

Action Teams

Our Action Teams work on infant mortality prevention, breastfeeding, mental health, tobacco cessation, physical activity, nutrition, and more.

We aim to make changes to our systems and structures to make it easier to make the healthy choice.
